Zero Audio/Video Interference with a secure private connection
My wife and I tried the SUMMER INFANT HAND HELD COLOR VIDEO MONITOR 2.5 inch Screen - 02100A earlier this year. Unfortunately, both channels on that device had significant audio and video interference. Depending on which way we held the receiver, we could see 3 other babies in the neighborhood. We were not comfortable with the fact that others would be able to look in our baby so we returned that model.

This item advertises zero interference and I’m happy to say this is very true. We are able to leave the monitor on at night and do not have to listen to the hum and static we experienced with the first monitor. We’re also able to receive a very good audio/video signal over a block away from our house. We have 802.11B and 802.11G wireless networks as well as 2.4GHz cordless phones in the house …. none of which have been affected by the addition of this new wireless device. It also advertises a secure and private connection which appears to be the case as the camera and video monitor were synchronized at the factory.

The video quality on this unit is comparable to the 2100A model we tried, just on a slightly smaller screen. It’s not TV broadcast or camcorder quality, but you can easily see what’s going on. The color video on the monitor is a bit washed out. I can pick out some colors, but it’s not much more than a black and white video. The infrared night vision is really cool! It produces a black and white image, but you can see details clear as day.

We haven’t hooked up the crib soother yet. It’s designed to attach with a type of clamp that doesn’t easily fit the curved edges of our crib, but I think I can still make it work.

Much better than audio alone
Update 7/14: I had to return this item as all of the sudden the monitor would lose connection multiple times during the night and would emit a loud buzzing noise as it tried to reconnect. In addition, you couldn’t add a secondary camera to the unit, eventhough the remote had the option for 2 cameras. I wish it would have worked better.

I was on the fence as to whether or not to buy a video unit. I chose this one as it was “secure” and promised no interference from my wireless phones/router.

In terms of audio, the unit is far more sensitive than both the Fisher Price and Uniden monitors I have owned in the past.

Video wise, I am very happy. During the day, the picture is in full color and very clear. Night time uses night vision. I was very surprised by how clear the picture was. We are very happy with this purchase. My only question is that I dont think you can add onto the unit (ie add another receiver). The receiver has a switch for a 2nd camera, but I do not see one for sale.

I have yet to use the Crib Soother, but can see that being very handy when the time comes.

Great Monitor
I searched high and low for a good monitor for our newborn. I’m an engineering type who was very discouraged by the poor reviews of previous products and was glad I waited until this was released. Our house has two wireless networks (802.11b and g), a microwave and a slew of other wireless techno-gadgets.

We have experienced nothing but a clear image and clear sound. The build quality is solid. The crib soother is pretty cool, but we really don’t use it much.

In night-vision mode, the resolution on the screen is just good enough that I can make out facial expressions and see my baby’s pacifier…which is good enough for me.

The only reason I did not give this item five stars is because it apparently needs LOTS of light to work in day (color) mode as I haven’t yet seen that happen. It’s really not important to me as the product’s purpose is extremely well fulfilled.

I originally saw this series on the Cartoon Network Adult Swim segment encourage in 2005. Unlike most American cartoons this Ghost in the Shell (GITS) is geared towards a dilapidated audience. It offers a pleasurable mix of police drama, philosophy and sci-fi all rolled into one.

The 26 episodes are divided into two categories Stand Alone and Complex. Stand Alone episodes are simply that, a self contained episode that is engrossing, but doesn’t contribute noteworthy to the overall arcing storyline. These episodes can be skipped and you will smooth be able to follow the Laughing Man storyline. Complex episodes are portion of the overall Laughing Man storyline; miss one episode and you miss some information.

GITS takes plot in the year 2030; which is after the 4th World War, and revolves around Public Security Part 9, or simply Part 9. It is an elite anti-crime organization that specializes in cyber terrorism. The team is mostly comprised of cyborgs with the exception of one; Togusa who’s only cyberization is a brain implant. Many of the initial episodes are Stand Alone, but eventually the main tale arc begins to emerge when an unresolved six year veteran case called the Laughing Man case.

GITS is geared towards a veteran audience because of the serious dialog. There are no “cute” talking animals like in other animes. However, to introduce a sense of innocence into an otherwise serious organization comprised of primitive military, Yakuza (organized crime), and police members are the Tachikomas. Tachikomas are lightly armored tanks with autonomous AI traditional by Piece 9. When they train they have the exclaim of limited children which is in difference to the more old-fashioned sounding adults. The Tachikomas recount an innocence that all members of Part 9 (or any adult for that matter) no longer have.

The basic philosophy around Ghost in the Shell is what a human being is and how your humanity will change as you upgrade your body using cybernetics. The title speaks for itself; “Ghost” is your soul, “Shell” is your body whether it is biological or cybernetic. A word of warning, unlike most cartoons made for the US audience, the dialog can become quite complex especially when dealing with philosophical issues and positive aspects of the Laughing Man case. Imagine the dialog between Neo and the Architect in The Matrix: Reloaded. Not something to hear every day; especially in cartoons geared towards kids. Speaking of the Matrix, the movie borrows a lot from Japanese anime and manga, including Ghost in the Shell.

The main memoir arc revolves around the Laughing Man. Who is he/she? Why did he/she start a series of industrial blackmail and suddenly recede? Are there more than one Laughing Man? The companies that were blackmailed by the Laughing Man also received money from the government to beget stock prices; is there some type of collusion taking location? What is the significance of the quote, “I view what I’d do was, pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes” from the book Catcher in the Rye? As the main sage arc unfolds, some answers are provided, but many recent mysteries originate up.

Not certain if it’s worth buying? Then peep it or relate it on the Cartoon Network who typically broadcasts the series at 2:00am and 5:00am Monday through Thursday. Unfortunately as of is writing (10-15-06) the Cartoon Network has re-broadcasted all episodes of GITS SAC season 1. They are currently broadcasting the episode of Ghost in the Shell - S.A.C - 2nd Gig which is season 2 of the series. A very satisfactory continuation of the series with an even more complex storyline.

Can’t wait for the next movie (not season 3), Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Solid Space Society, to be released in 2007 outside of Japan.

I stumbled on Stand Alone Complex completely by accident. I’d seen both previous films, and this fresh series caught me completely by surprise. With principal exceptions (Battlestar Galactica, Six Feet Under) this has more emotional and shimmering depth than almost any Western series you can judge of. Every episode subtly and delicately raises vital themes that are worth serious discussion and consideration.

But those themes won’t be appetizing to an audience if it isn’t packaged in an eterntaining construct - which this series is. It has everything - some big action sequences (the Terrorist takedown in the first episode), terrific character development (name any of them), and a standout kickass musical accept. The regain by Yoko Kanno deserves special mention, as it runs the gamut from ‘cyberpunk techno’(sic? ) to sparkling orchestral melodies. And the main themes for the series are serious attention-getters - one of the best I’ve ever heard.

All the characters are vividly drawn and beautifully realised. The DVD Boxset has both the unusual Japanese voices, as well as the English dub. It’s interesting to examine the differences between Atsuko Tanaka and Mary McGlynn’s rendition of the main character (Major Kusanagi) . The Japanese voices emphasises the philosphical and brilliant issues being raised. While the western dub makes the characters more marvelous and approachable. It lends a sharp slant to the series.

The wobble is grand slower and more langurious than what action- or anime- fans are stale to. As a casual viewer, that’s unprejudiced attractive by me. It gives the viewer more time to digest the well-known concepts being raised, and also a chance to relish the tone and atmosphere of the wonderful world that is being woven before our eyes.

There are a few films that have touched me intellectually, and there are a lot that have affected me emotionally and viscerally (LOTR, Doctor Who, Star Wars Modern, Star Pace, etc…) . Stand Alone Complex is the only series that has touched me on both an emotional and lustrous level. I absolutely fancy and care for this series. Strongly strongly recommended for the open-minded viewer looking for emotional and shining stimulation from their film and TV viewing.

On the two disc edition of The Mist, on disc 2 there is a splendid Shadowy and White version of the film, with an introduction by the director Frank Darabont. Darabont says he originally wanted The Mist to be in B&W and be a throwback to the 50’s and 60’s fear movies such as Night of the Living Monotonous, which I felt it had a lot in approved with. Darabont says this can be considered his director’s lop. I knew he directed two other King favorites The Shawshank Redemption (Two-Disc Special Edition) and The Green Mile, but I didn’t realize his other contributions to the fright genre, until I checked out IMDB. Starting in 1980 as a production assistant on Hell Night and going on to write the screenplays for A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - Dream Warriors, The Blob, The Sail II (Collector’s Edition), and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

The Mist is an engrossing, at times infuriating, tragic fright film filled with fun scares in the gain of 50s and 60s era monsters lurking in the mist outside and the uglier monsters inside that apply to our expose day, a apt creature double feature.

Darabont reminded me of Romero and his utilize of apprehension and social commentary. That’s the surface of the film, but as we go through the layers we get great more, such as the monsters that lurk inside the supermarket. Human nature, when shrinking and backed into a corner and the role the military plays once the smoke clears are some of the movie’s other factors.

The Murky and White Version is the plan to go, to procure that faded school feel the director intended, even the draw the title on the dvd is written is like an obsolete monster movie. Highly Recommended, one of King’s best film adaptations.

After a abominable storm that puts a tree through his studio window, David Drayton (Jane), his son Billy (Gamble), and neighbor Brent (Braugher) head into town to accept some supplies from the supermarket. Once there, the mist that they saw rolling across the lake has made it into town and engulfs the store. The panic level is upped when a man runs into the store with blood on his face, screaming that there is something out there. Indeed, there is, and soon those trapped in the store seek what it is. To compose matters worse, a religious fanatic by the name of Mrs. Carmody (Harden) is stirring up some of the customers with her talk of the raze of the world. David finds himself looked to for guidance, and when things seem to be as dreadful as they can be, things accumulate worse.

Director Frank Darabont takes another stab at a Stephen King tale, this time a panic record, and succeeds quite well. Like “The Shawshank Redemprion” and “The Green Mile”, “The Mist” is a faithful adaptation of the source material, with an added on ending that may or may not work for viewers. I, for one, delight in endings of this nature, but am not positive that it was the lawful ending to tack on the slay of this particular epic. The acting is solid all around, especially Marcia Cheerful Harden as the disturbing Mrs. Carmody. The film has its fragment of monsters, but the scariest ones are inside the store, not outside it. “The Mist” works because it is a incandescent thriller, directed by an agreeable director. I recommend this film.

Las Vegas is an awesome prove. Season three was a dinky worn towards the middle, but certainly picks up by the slay (plus season four is large again) . The box space is enormous…and lets you pick up everything you missed in 2005-2006 (plus there are a few things that had to be nick for TV) . Overall a large box and well worth the label (which is vulgar to start with) .

It’s blueprint past time that something like this was released about Ella. This video contains lots of performance footage from various TV appearances and live concerts. I was very gay to score that the emphasis is on live footage rather than simply on narration with various unexcited shots and otherwise available, already eminent commercial recordings playing in the background. Of course there is quite a bit of narration, but the emphasis is tranquil on Ella performing. We even regain to watch “alternative” performances of some commercially available live recordings that will be famed to Ella fans. For example, there is a clip of her performing at Ronnie Scott’s in London doing her parody of country music and “Soul Notify” music. (It is a different version from the one on her “Ella in London” recording, and very comical.) There is also a video clip from her performance with Count Basie’s orchestra at Montreux in ‘79, singing fragment of “Basella” and trading fours with Eric Dixon and Mitchell “Bootie” Woods. (In this case, it is the same performance as the commercial audio recording, but the video gives additional insight into Ella’s performing style for Ella fans.) I enjoyed the video very remarkable and can highly recommend it to both casual and hardcore fans (who might already have most of her commercial recordings) of Ella Fitzgerald. You will net several unique things here.

Luckily I was able to recognize Ella In Concert numerous times throughout the 70’s and 80’s and was honored to have her autograph two L.P.’s by her limousine after a concert she gave at the Junior College I attended at the time in 1972…Ella was kind and valid and that quailty plus her shimmering artistry really near through and shine in this fair documentary of her life and incomparable career. Tony Bennett is the perfect choice to characterize this gorgeous “American Masters” production and his cherish of Ella comes through and adds alot of soul to the special. Performance footage is ultimately what becomes breathtaking to experience and when Ella sings the classic “Something To Live For” it is breathtakingly blooming and completely haunting. The exhaust of concert footage from the various stages of her career indicate that Ella found joy in sharing her gift with her audience and songs like “For Once In My Life” become life experiences that are emotionally enthralling and technically shimmering. This “American Masters” special is a keeper so for anyone who loves the legendary Ella procure this historical work lickety-split while it is available as this is the definitive work about the life and career of this wonderous and gifted talent…BRAVO ELLA and thank you are all the fabulous years of sublime singing and you are truly missed!!!

Much easier to use than the other pram conversion rear-facing strollers.
I have read through numerous reviews for this stroller prior to making my purchase decision. I purchased an ‘08 model of the UNO which is virtually the same, except that it does not have the hand brake. This stroller is in a class of its own, it’s not as rugged as a bugaboo, uppababy vista, or quinny buzz. It doesn’t have pneumatic tires. It’s closest competitor, in terms of features, would be the Graco Alano Flip-It. However, the Graco doesn’t convert to a pram.

So here’s my impression: Other reviewers had numerous complaints about this stroller, “feels plastickey”, hard to steer in reverse mode, handle feels spongy or loose. I would have to say that if you are comparing this to the Bugaboo, etc. those would be valid complaints. However, this stroller can be purchased at a much lower price range. It’s really in a different category, which I would compare more to the Graco Alano Flip-It, as I stated before, a rear-facing (due to the handle flip) stroller that also has the added bonus of a Pram conversion. Of course, it isn’t going to be as rock solid as a Bugaboo, and it doesn’t cost like a Bugaboo either. As far as I can tell, the frame isn’t aluminum. Not a big deal, however, if Peg Perego had made the frame aluminum, and had a sold, non-adjustible handle, as in the Bugaboo, it would have a much more solid feel to it. Since the handle is adjustible, it has a little play or wiggle to it. Its still solid, you can pick up the stroller and get over bumps, its just that it would have been better as a solid, impressive-looking aluminum handle, without the plastic portion on the top that adjusts. As far as steering, it steers just as well as the Alano flip it, maybe a bit easier. It isn’t going to steer as great as a stroller that can flip the entire seat front to back, obviously, because when in reverse mode, you are steering backwards, which really isn’t hard or difficult at all.

Now let’s look at the positive features that literally blow the other high-end competitors out of the water: 1) This stroller has a big huge basket that is spring loaded, so you can easily access it in pram mode, flat seat mode, etc. The basket bends down and up so it is very easy to access and it is big. 2) This stroller is extremely easy to fold. I tried to fold up the Alano flip-it at the store and I could not figure it out, folding this thing is a breeze, just hit the “1″ and “2″ tabs with your foot, and it folds right up. It folds easily, as long as the handle is flipped to front, hood is closed, and seat is upright. You do not need to take off the pram pieces, or the snack tray, or physically remove the seat or bassinet, like you must in those very expensive high-end, rugged rear-facing strollers such as the bugaboo, quinny, and vista. 3) This stroller is only about 20 lbs, which is much lighter than the Quinny buzz, the Skate, and Uppa Baby. It folds quick and stands upright when folded, it is not hard to pick up and lift to the back of your suv. It’s not an umbrella fold, but it is compact enough, considering all the features. You need to have an suv-type vehicle to fit this in that’s for sure, just as you would with the UppaBaby, Skate, Quinny, etc. 3) The snack tray exists, and it is removable, so it doesn’t need to be on the stroller when you are in pram mode. So many of the pics on the net show the baby in the pram with the snack tray on, which doesn’t make sense to me at all, it should be off in pram mode, for the comfort of your little one. 4) So many people have complained that the harness is not removable, well, it is removable if you are aware of a little device called a screwdriver and you are not afraid to use it. I’m not convinced that it is safe to use as a pram with the harness attached to it, it looks dangerous to me. 5) The wheels on this stroller are not hard plastic like on the Alano Flip-It, They are more of a foam covered in rubber type of wheels, much smoother driving.

I personally feel that this is an excellent stroller. Overall, it is much easier to use than the Bugaboo, Quinny, Skate, etc. although not nearly as rugged. I think for the price it is offered, it could be made more rugged, with an aluminum frame, less plastic, non-adjustible foam covered aluminum handle. I would not want it to have pneumatic wheels as that would add additional weight. The seat is much larger than the others, it will last much longer in terms of being used for larger toddlers. It has a snack tray which is great, and a very adjustible removable bumper bar, which is also excellent.

I feel that the price I paid was good, but I don’t think I would be so happy if I had paid the full MSRP. However, price aside, I love this stroller and I’m giving it 5 stars. I ruled out Bugaboo as “too pricey”, UppaBaby as “too much work to fold” and “too big when folded”, Quinny Buzz as “too much work to fold” and “too big when folded” and “too heavy”, and the skate as “too new, not reliable” and “too many parts” and “too heavy”.

I seriously feel that moms using the Peg Perego UNO will have a much easier time of folding it, getting it into and out of the back of the SUV, and shopping at the mall with the large basket, and shading their little ones from sun and snow with the huge pram and sun canopy, zipping through the zoo, etc. It’s definately not an off-roading, tromping through national parks type of stroller as is the almighty Bugaboo. But for suburban moms, I think it’s perfect.

Exceeded My Expectations!
I’m very happy with the purchase of Peg Perego Uno stroller. It is very easy to convert the stroller into the carriage just by lifting the footrest and attaching the cover to the armrests. You can switch between facing forward and facing back positions only by moving the handle from the back to the front, without lifting and moving the seat. The snack table can be adjusted and extended forward. The basket is large and can be adjusted in height as well. The seat is very well padded. The seat can be easily adjusted with a bar. It lays flat under the weight of the baby. It looks very comfy. The stroller is not that bulky and it weights a little bit more than Chicco. It folds easy in two steps: on each side of the stroller over the wheels they have break looking mechanism that you press on with your foot(one at the time) and then pull the stroller forward.
The customer service for Peg Perego is the best! Each customer service associate (typically woman) has a stoller beside her. If you need some help on how to operate the stroller, they’ll go through the process with you by actually performing it with their stroller!
I had to fully rely on the description that was giving about the stroller online and a few consumer feedbacks, when I was looking for the stroller. I was hoping to try it out in the store, but they didn’t care them (only online). They didn’t even have You Tube video about it.
